Emerging of the Bombshell Within

An eclectic view of a girl's life

Fluff five April 25, 2008

Filed under: meme — bombshellwithin @ 8:14 PM

Seems that on the day that I took to update my blog(no, seriously!  I’m up to date.  So be sure you read back.  Since the freedom post, I think I’ve written a dozen posts.  Check back and be sure you have not missed any, I promise that with this post I end all back posting!), MQ decides to hit me up with a meme.  How could I refuse her when she’s such a darling?  So, let’s see what I reveal to the world tonight.

Five things found in your bag:

  1. Lipgloss- Seriously, are you that surprised to find this out?  I always have some sort of gloss in my bag.  Lately I’ve been addicted to Burt’s Bees shimmering tinted gloss in rhubarb.
  2. Pencil case with change- I actually didn’t have a wallet until yesterday when I got myself a very cute one at Border’s.  I haven’t changed it out yet.  But I will soon.
  3. Camera in red leather case- I almost always have my camera with me in the lovely red leather case that my mother gave me for my birthday.  I really need to get back into taking random pictures so I can blog about them.
  4. Teeny Tiny umbrella- It rains a lot here, especially in the afternoon when you least expect it.  This little thing is a godsend and I keep it on hand.  I may get soaked, but it still allows for a measure of emotional security and keeps my glasses dry since spotted glasses are a true pet peeve of mine.
  5. Agenda- I often joke about how if I don’t write it into my agenda, I will forget about it.  This little agenda is a beautiful little book that allows me space to write things up daily.  I leave myself notes over what I need to do and what I did do on that day.

Five favorite things in your room:

  1. Jamie- My computer, Jamie, is set right beside my bed.  This is where I stay connected and concoct all my madness.
  2. Full length mirror- In one corner of my room I have this full length mirror on a stand.  It’s this very pretty sort of cherry wood and seems very classic.
  3. Center ivy rug- When I first moved into my room, I felt the center of it just seemed to bare.  So after a lot of shopping around I found this rectagular rug, green and beige with a nice border of ivy.  I am fond of my name so I like everything ivy-laced.
  4. Red leather corset- I don’t know if this counts, but I do love it.  I haven’t worn it in a while but it’s one of my favorite pieces.  It’s a real corset and requires someone lacing me into it for me to wear it.
  5. Cow- I don’t know if this one counts either… but my calico cat is in my room because I am.  I love her to pieces.

Five things you have always wanted to do:

  1. Vist France to learn French- They say the only way to learn a language is to immerse yourself someone and force yourself to learn it.  It happened with Spanish, I’d love to be able to do that with French too.
  2. Get married- Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been dreaming of the perfect wedding and everything.
  3. Be pregnant- Also since I was a little girl I wanted to know what it was like to have children and even if I adopt to have them, I’d still wish to know what it’s like to grow a little person inside my body.
  4. Publish romance novels- I’ve made it no secret that I read a lot of romance novels.  What most don’t know is that I’ve actually begun pulling together my thoughts to write them.  If I were to ever attempt to publish smething, this would be the genre.
  5. Sing- This was a talent I wish I had.  Unfortunately, while I think I can sing to a certain extent, it’s nothing to write home about.  I wish I had the talent to get on stage and belt it out, leave people in awe of my beautiful voice.

Five things you are currently into:

  1. Watching “The Riches”- I’ve been watching this show by streaming it via aol video.  It has Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver.  It’s truly different and very funny.  I can’t wait for the new episodes to come out for this second season.
  2. Trying to collect certain books to romance series- Lately I’ve been into reading romance novels that come out as series.  So far I’m trying to read all of Julia London’s Rogues of Reagent Street Series, Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton Series and Stephanie Lauren’s Bastion Club Series.  Most I’ve been reading out of order, just getting them as I find them.
  3. Posting on forums at a certain personals site- I totally love posting maniacally in a Word Games forum.
  4. Trying to enamor a certain gent – He knows who he is *blows a kiss*
  5. Keeping track of all my friends’ blogs- I just love reading about all their lives, all their projects and all the silliness.  I often feel very isolated here on island, so it’s nice to be able to connect with people who share your common interests.

Five people you want to tag:

  1. Scizor- bee-yotch!  ‘Cause I said so!
  2. Gretchen Noelle- Just because I love her blog and it’s nice when people share more about themselves.
  3. CB- ‘Cause she’s fierce and I love giving her stuff to ramble happily about.
  4. turtly- Jamie just loves doing memes and ’cause I don’t want her left out.
  5. puptart - Because we seem to not have talked in forever and I miss hearing about her.

6 words April 16, 2008

Filed under: meme — bombshellwithin @ 9:24 PM

So, this is a meme I stumbled across as I was stalking CB.  And since she’s one of those sly devils who tag you just for having read her blog, I suddenly felt inclined to do it.

Write your memoir in 6 words.

Damn, how do I manage this?

Insane girly with too much time.

Slacking babe who talks too much.

She who killed those who meme.

Girl banging head against the keyboard.

Yeah… this could take a while.  I completely agreed with CB about how hard this is.  I ramble, I write WAY too much.  The funny thing is that in real life I’m far more quiet.  But for some reason, place a pen in my hands or my fingers near a keyboard and I can fly through my entire brain and range of emotions.  So this darn meme was really a challenge.  I walked away a bit and got a drink of water.  That’s when it hit me!

FlirtyRomantic… Passionate girl bombshell quests for true happiness.

Now, that wasn’t that difficult!

HA!  I’m so full of it.

But, who to tag now?

I think I shall hit up MQ, scizor and TW for this one.

*cackles evilly while blogging some more*

7 weird things you don’t know about me February 26, 2008

Filed under: meme — bombshellwithin @ 7:42 PM
Tags: , , , ,

[And probably wished that I'd kept to myself once you've read them!]

The ever so gorgeous and talented MQ from Magik Quilter tagged me with this.  Since she is probably the first totally random person to hit about my blog with a comment, and has become a faithful fan since, I could hardly deny her!  So here we go…

The Rules are simple:

  1. Link back to the person who tagged you.  [But I haven't learned how to do that yet!  Can't y'all just take her off my blogroll?!]
  2. Post the “rules”. [Thank goodness these rules have gotten easier!]
  3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself. [Okay... lemme get to thinking of some really good ones!]
  4. Tag seven people and link back to them. [This is getting hard again.  Do I even know 7 people to tag?!]
  5. Comment on their blogs to let them know they have been tagged.  [Hows about I don't but I say that I did?]
  6. Stand on your head while typing.
  7. Forward all your pretty accessories to this bombshell.

[Kindly disregard rules 6 & 7.  I just wanted this meme to have 7 rules.  But, couldn't think of anything good... or maybe I'm serious.  At least with #7.... nah, j/k.  Well.. if you feel inclined to donate things to the bombshell collection, I won't stop you.  I'll love you forever. Promise!]

 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

  1. I have a beauty mark on the outside right calf, basically centered on it.  I’ve had it for as long as I can remember and if you look at it closely, I swear that it looks like one very fat sea horse.
  2. I love sour cream.  Like, seriously love the stuff.  I think it deserves an altar and virgin sacrifices because it is so amazing.  If allowed, I’d put it on top of nearly everything I eat… and for the most part, I kinda have when I manage restraint and have some on hand.  I have fantasies with the stuff… some I have fulfilled… and others that I can’t because I can’t seem to calculate how many gallons would have me happily wading in it in a decent sized pool.  *ahem*
  3. If the good Lord had made me skinny, I think I would run about naked.  At the very least, I would run about in pretty matching bra and panty sets… and a nice set of heels.  I’m a total exhibitionist but I think I do it with style.  I know many who are not comfortable in their own skin.  When I think of the top 3 things I’d change about myself physically, weight is not one of them.  I don’t much care for diets or eating “right”.  I dress to fit my body type and shape and I eat whatever I think will taste good.
  4. For the pre-Easter chat season, I’ve been going under the nick leafy`bunny just because it seems so cute!  And, the lovely and wonderful dallas showed me a news article about an artist, Claude Lalanne, because of this image: Leafy bunny
  5. My motto is “With genius come chaos” and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it when it comes to why my room is such a mess.  I’m seriously sorrounded by clutter.  I make an effort for other people’s benefit.  I mean I keep the student council office impeccable and I used to have my investigation lab absolutely spotless!  People would truly believe me to be so very neat and tidy.  I’m actually anything but!
  6. I suck a ironing!  I mean… truly and totally suck at it.  You would think I had most domestic tasks down packed.  But nope, this one is my one super huge failing.  I have no idea what it is or why, but few things I iron look truly well ironed.  The most I can do is look semi presentable and hope the faint wrinkles stretch themselves out with wear… or look like they came from just the usual wearing.
  7. I’m not a fan of diamonds.  I’d rather wear a rhinestone or a cubic zirconia.  I don’t know why I don’t much care for them.  I think they are just so plain.  Sure, they have sparkle, but so do many other things.  From a chemical viewpoint, they are quite fascinating in structure.  But that’s about it.  I wouldn’t even wish for a diamond engagement ring.  My dream engagement ring is an aquamarine, which is my birthstone.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I’m totally going to break the rules and not tag anyone.

But if kitten, Jamie, TW, Rach, Dee, scizor and puptart

feel like responding, then so be it. :p

Tagging the Bombshell February 22, 2008

Filed under: meme — bombshellwithin @ 10:26 PM

Like, zomg!  I feel SO special!  Tempered Woman (see my blogroll for her addie) actually tagged me in a meme.  This humble bombshell is flattered to have been noticed by such a wonderfully delightful and talented blogger that is TW.  Maybe because I totally stalk her and stuff.  She’s probably the one blog that freezes up my decrepit laptop that I still make the effort to view regardless!

Anyhoo!  Here it goes…

  1. Link to your tagger and post the rules. (This is looking easy.  I’m feeling good about myself.)
  2. Share 5 facts about yourself. (And I shall! ) 1. explain how you got your first or middle name, 2. where you were born, 3. your favorite fruit, 4. something embarassing about you and 5. answers the question “Your dream wedding would have to include…” You must also supply at least one funny photo that goes with one of your facts.
  3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post and listing them. (Wait, I don’t know how to link to people… nyah, but everyone I will pick is probably on my blogroll already.)
  4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by commenting on their blog. (Hold on, wait a minute!  TW hasn’t come over to warn me yet!  I’m so gonna tell on her….)

My five facts:

  • My name would have been Joanna, but my parents decided to name me after a soap opera character.
  • I’m a New Yorker.. In Flushing.  No, I don’t have the accent.
  • My favorite fruit is pear.
  • I’m a sour cream junkie.  I slather it onto everything and have some fantasies about it.  >.> …. <.<  Some I’ve fulfilled.  Now…. all I need for the best one is a swimming pool and many gallons of the stuff.
  • Goodness… my dream wedding… depends on the day… But it will have tulips.  Oh.. and I’ll hope not to be a bridezilla… and a kick ass bachlorette party with my girlies:

girlies

(I’m the one on the right, of course)

And now…. to those of you who I shall tag!

  • puptart: my partner in crime
  • jamie: one of the best girlfriends a bombshell can have
  • carlitos: we’re “married” on FaceBook, so everything I do, he must too.
  • kitten: my sister from another mister

Run along and be free memes!  Do my bidding oh tagees!

Following in meme footsteps January 21, 2008

Ivy faerie

SO!  I jacked this meme from The Tempered Woman who totally took it from Quirky Cupcake.  And since at The Bombshell Within we like to get everyone knowing WAY more about me than they would like, I’m going to get to answering the questions.

What were you doing 10 years ago? Alright… lesse…. 10 years ago I was 11 going to turn 12 in 2 months time.  So that would put me in 7th grade.  At this time I had already spent a semester in Puerto Rico and hating every minute of it.  I knew that if I didn’t do something about it, I was going to crack and lose myself.  So I, along with the help of my Math teacher Miss Martinez, was trying to convince all my other teachers that I needed to be changed out of the bad group (orignally placed there because I was from New York and didn’t know Spanish, so they didn’t have much hope for me) to the brainy group.  Why go through that trouble?  Well, that group got treated differently and were on a ‘higher’ level.  I’d learned Spanish in 2 months and my math skills (the real standard they used to separate the kiddies) was way beyond those of even the smart kids.  Hence, I pushed and pleaded and just about bullied my way into being changed homerooms.  And it was a good thing I did because the public school system keeps the smart kids together.  A way of protecting them from all the bad eggs.  So I was with most of these kids until high school.  It was because of this crucial academic move that I was able to take advanced placement tests for College and become early admissions down the road.

What were you doing 1 year ago?  One year ago…. I was arguing with my then long distance boyfriend.  He totally sucked with the holidays.  I didn’t get a gift and he didn’t even call to say happy new years… not even considering that I was an hour ahead of him and therefore he had 2 opportunities to send me his love.  By this point there was this little crossdressing twit from a chatroom he and I both frequented who proceeded to tell me all sorts of dirty things he had done with my boyfriend.  Stupid me believed my bf.  Damn… I’m too loyal for my own good.  Besides that, I was basically in the same place I am now with my college career.  Still hoping and wishing that this will FINALLY be my last one and that this will be all over with soon.

Five snacks you enjoy:

  1. A little can of octopus with crackers, seriously!  I love that stuff!
  2. Oreo cookies, preferably not in any close proximation of consumption with #1.  Although, who am I kidding?!?!?!  Any cookie will do.
  3. Fruit, I really do love pears and green apples!  I clean my mother out whenever I go home.
  4. Saltines.  I dunno why.  I can’t have any around or I’ll snack away on them and there won’t be any left.  But!  They are so gosh dern good with munster cheese.
  5. Almonds.  I just seriously <3 these things.

Five songs you know all the lyrics to:

  1. “Fuck Her Gently” by Tenacious D.  The good and dirty version, not the crap they played on the radio.  Darn them and their editing ways!!
  2. “Elephant Song Medley” from Moulin Rouge.  Too many car trips around the island has led me to know all the songs from this soundtrack actually.  To make it worse, between my best friend and I, we can divide us all the songs respectively between his being Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.
  3. “You are my Sunshine” because I used to sing this to my little brother a lot when  he was smaller… I gave him a little windup pillow from when I was a baby.  We’d turn it on and sing it together.  He’s a decade younger than me.  It was sweet and cute.
  4. “This never happened to me before” by Paul McCartney.  I really and totally love this song since the first time I heard it in the movie “The LakeHouse”.  I now know the precise timing in the movie when the song plays… in the movie itself and during credits.
  5. “A Rose is a Rose” by Poe.  This song is just fun and funny…… My older brother really got me into this artist.  She’s gorgeous and  I know most of her songs.  Or at least I think I do.  I’m one of those who has the song on and can spout it all off no problem.  But on my own it takes a pause or so to get to belting them out.

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:

  1. Here’s where I get to be a beauty pageant contestant and say ‘World Peace’ right?
  2. Help out in the effort to stop global warming.
  3. buy all the pretty round toe pumps, corsets and socks that my heart can love
  4. make the house of my dreams with the absolute perfect kitchen (which looks an awful like Martha’s house on Turkey Hill)
  5. Travel around the world whenever the whim hits me to learn a new language.

Five bad habits:

  1. Skipping class (I REALLY have to get better on this one!)
  2. Checking my blog stats compulsively
  3. Sleeping though my alarm clock
  4. Always using the second bite of food to try and decipher what’s in it if I wasn’t the one to make it.
  5. Not trusting anyone in my household to do any of the baking right (I have been very rightfully labeled as the cookie nazi)

Five things you like doing:

  1. Reading Romance novels; I won’t defend my choices to you!  I love them and I have read hundreds of them and perhaps may even have written several hundred pages of one.
  2. Chatting on IRC; that’s how I met tartlet!  So yay!
  3. Hitting the mall; I go way more than I should but since I don’t drink or party, there’s NOTHING else for me to do around here!
  4. Baking; seriously, who doesn’t?!
  5. Being creative and learning new hobbies; currently I’m learning to sew, finishing crocheting a blanket/throw, I need to cross stitch some stuff onto said blanket/throw

Five things you would never wear again:

  1. That terrible crochet shrug that my aunt bought me from Brazil.  I had to wear it once to please her but royal purple is SO not my color.
  2. That awful peach/pink blouse my mother gave to me because it fit me even though it was originally given to her from her own mother.  Ick… to many sparkles, I shudder.
  3. Halloween outfits from 2003; where I was a pink pixie in a see through babydoll nightie just barely clearing the bottom of my rump.. it didn’t SEEM transparent until I hit the bars under black lighting and suddently the white undies I were wearing popped right out and ALL you could read was the word ‘HOTTIE’ sprawled across my bottom.
  4. Halloween outfit from 2004; where I was a bunny.  That year it was a white one and I had to wear all sorts of waist cinchers and such just to fit into it (boy!  I learned the hard way to try things on before buying) and 7 inch heels… bright pink that laced up my leg to the thigh in ribbon.. and the fronts looked like ballet shoes… on VERY high platforms
  5. My green prom dress.  I dunno… It’s a glorious color but I just didn’t like the shape.

[I still have semi pics of the bunny outfit and the green prom dress which I will only share by popular demand.]

Five favorite toys:

  1. Jamie, my laptop
  2. Olly, my camera
  3. Jolly Rancher, my ipod nano v2
  4. Fatty, oh!  wouldn’t you like to know!
  5. my sewing machine, which I have just realized has not been named!

What is one totally embarassing but true fact about yourself that most people don’t know about you?  Shoot!  I think I already covered this one with my whole section on songs I know the lyrics too!

You’ve been tagged!  Now you must fill this out on your respective page thingy that you fill with all your stream of conscious ramblings… that is, if you haven’t already.
