Emerging of the Bombshell Within

An eclectic view of a girl's life

There are many things in life that I love. This weekend while shopping I was reminded of just one of those things.

I love Joe Boxer.

That smiley faced brand always makes me laugh. The colors are fun, the products are well made and even though I am a girly girl, I am not ashamed to say that I have some of the boxers from this brand (I sew up the sort of crotch flap so I can wear them like shorts around the house).

But the best part is that Joe Boxer does not just make boxers! They have an entire ladies line of undergarments as well as shirts, lounge pants and pjs. And to just add icing to the cake of my love fest, they go well up into the plus sizes!

(tmi warning! I am goint to talk about undies for the next paragraph. If you do not wish to read about it, feel free to skip it.)

Personally, I just adore bikini undies and these fit like a dream. The ride just low on the hip not to be visible but high enough so that they cover everything. And let me tell you that the cotton thongs are just the best too! They cover perfectly up front and are truly comfortable to wear. The prints are playful and the colors bright. More than one of them have cheeky smileys in all the right places. The bras are an even wider array of colors and patterns that can still be mixed and matched with the color schemes of the undies.

To some, this might not be very sexy. There isn’t this usual satin and lace (although there are silk undies and there are lace details on some bras) one would normally associate with some sort of sex appeal. I think these are just everyday clothing that just brighten ones day and makes one feel good in their own skin. So that makes me love them all the more!

The below is a sample shot of some of the holiday lounge pants I saw from the brand. There were many hilarious sayings and I am lobbying for this year’s pj, which my family always chooses to match one another, be of this collection. They had them in regular boxers and the pants and all made me smile ever so wide when I saw them. <div class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 650px"love them!

love them!

A girl going birthday shopping March 19, 2008

It’s tradition that my aunt, never quite knowing what to give her darling niece, decides just to take me shopping instead.  We hit up the mall in Ponce, Plaza del Caribe, because since I study and my aunt works in the other nearest big city with a mall, Mayaguez, we already know what there is to be offered in that mall.  Besides, the one in Ponce has Old Navy and that’s actually where I like to shop for blouses and my staple flipflops.  It’s also a rare occasion where it’s just the two of us wandering around various stores.

  • Two tank tops (lower left hand corner; blue and green)
  • Jean pencil skirt (lower right hand corner)
  • Coral patterned tube top blouse (middle)

And these from Payless black wedges

Lovely Hosiery February 28, 2008

I was down at a local sex shop adult product store this evening and I was most delighted to see they had brought in plus sized hosiery!  This was a thrill because not even my local lingerie shop has this variety and quantatity, and believe me I have talked to the shop owner and tried to convince them they need to order more products.  Unfortunately, seems the plus sizes don’t move fast enough for them.  I think it’s more them not doing their jobs and allowing women to buy the wrong sized hosiery.  There are far too many women squeezing themselves into things two sizes (or more) too small.  And I swear the sales associates are no help at all!  They don’t even help you find your right section.  I know I’m fat!  I really won’t be offended if I’m steered to the plus sizes.  Saves me time and I don’t get frustrated.  I therefore spend more money on the pretty things I do have the time to see.

Oh no… I went off on a rant.  I didn’t mean to!  But, let me get back on track to show off the two sets of stockings I bought:

white with red hearts White thigh-hi stockings with red scattered hearts and a red bow on front; toes are opaque.  I think they are cute and fun, but they really do need a garter belt because they don’t stay up on their own.

black ribbon and bows Black fishnet thigh hi with ribbon and bow details; lace stay up tops and seam in the back.  I really loved the feel of these and would probably wear a garterbelt, just in case.

Hitting up K-mart February 16, 2008

My mother and I hit up K-mart because we needed to get some linen kitchen towels, and a few other things as well from that local shopping center in my hometown.  Now, I’d read about the towels from my Martha Stewart’s HomeKeeping HandBook, so I felt well prepared to go in there and just buy whichever kitchen towels Martha Stewart had in her collection.  It took us getting dizzy some, but we found them.  There was a huge stack of them in all sorts of colors and patterns.  I had to ask my mother if no one else bothered to buy kitchen towels… there were just that many.  Still, the collections were lovely and we couldn’t right decide the ones that would suit our needs.  Should we go for the collection with the lovely fruit print?  The gingham?  The days of the week?  Just pretty stripes?  The ice cream color collection or the sandy beach collection?   We tossed the about and we discarded the options we felt didn’t seem strong or soft or tough or sturdy or knowing we just wouldn’t use them as per day of the week and therefore lost their whimsy.

In the end, we sort of chose the simplest stripe ones.  And as we wandered to the checkout, suddenly we each were carrying a pair of shoes (beige wedge sandals for me), the Easter collection caught our eye.  They had the loveliest sets of dishes and things that we’d seen.  Most didn’t even seem Eastery because they lacked bunnies and chicks… but the best of it was, almost everything had tulips.  Y’all know I just love them tulips.  And right there, what do I see… but a cupcake stand!  My eyes must have lit right up because my mother bought it for me.

So, yay!!  Look at what I have now!
