Emerging of the Bombshell Within

An eclectic view of a girl's life

it takes a village December 10, 2009

It took an ambitious group of pastry students:
+ 12.5 hours
+ 10 pounds of powdered sugar
+ 5 1/2 bags of small gummis
+ 4 bags of large gummis
+ 2 bags of twizzlers
+ 6 boxes of Mike & Ikes
+ 2 1/2 bags of mints
+ 1 box of mini candy canes
+ 1 bag of lifesavers
+ 1 bag of smarties
+ 2 little boxes of peeps
+ 1 box of ice cream cones
+ 2 ounces of assorted food colorings
+ 1 1/2 bags of lollipops
+ 1 pound almound nougatine
+ 1/2 pound brown sugar
+ several fist fulls of splenda

And that is all without counting the pounds of gingerbread cookies that had to be baked to create each house and that many more pieces that broke.

In the end, the result was a beauty greater than individual beauty of each house. I still say that our houses look like 5 year olds made it but the end result is a stunning masterpiece of confectionary art!

When we estimated cost of materials and the cost if we had been paid employees, that village would have been a $700 investment.

Impressive, no?
